Copperhead Sandalwood secures Mount Romance distillation facility, restoring stability to the global Indian sandalwood market.
Chandana Holdings Pty Ltd (“Chandana”) which will trade as Copperhead Sandalwood (“Copperhead”) today announces the acquisition of the Mount Romance distillation facility in Albany, Western Australia.
The acquisition, completed in late January 2026, marks a decisive step in restoring long-term stability, quality, and credibility to the global Indian sandalwood (Santalum album) supply chain.
With Quintis and Santanol no longer distilling oil, Chandana now brings together the assets, people, and infrastructure required to ensure continuity of supply for the fragrance and flavour, cosmetic and aromatherapy industries.
Chandana is jointly owned by prominent family office, The Springwood Group, and the Wilson family, who are pioneers of the Indian sandalwood industry in Australia. Chandana represents more than 30 years of experience in sandalwood cultivation, distillation, and global supply.
The company is onboarding the core technical and operational team that has run the Albany based Mount Romance facility for over 20 years, ensuring continuity of knowledge, process, and quality standards.
“This acquisition is about restoring confidence to an industry that depends on long-term stability and sustainability,” said Ben Wilson, Chandana Executive Director.
“We are returning to do what the Mt Romance distillery has always done: produce
the finest Indian sandalwood oil the world relies on.”

Restoring confidence in supply, quality and sustainability
The Mount Romance facility will continue to produce high-quality Indian sandalwood oil with a strong focus on:
- Consistency of quality and traceability
- Best-in-class sustainable distillation practices
- Long-term security of supply for global customers
Chandana is committed to the ethical and long-term legitimacy of Indian sandalwood and will implement a sustainability roadmap to re-establish internationally recognised certifications previously held by the facility, including but not limited to Ecovadis, Sedex and UEBT.

The credible choice for Santalum album
At a time when the market has experienced significant disruption, Chandana now stands as the supplier capable of meeting the fine fragrance, cosmetic, and aromatherapy industry’s requirements for scale, quality, and sustainability in Indian sandalwood oil.
Chandana is focused on partnering with customers pursuing multi-year supply arrangements. We will be engaging directly with key customers immediately regarding both current and forward volume requirements.
